Roger Smith

This is how you do it Las Vegas-style

At least $10,000, that's what star Ann-Margret usually gets for a show. But her relatives in Valsjobyn got to see her dance and clown around for free.

Usually you have to pay a lot to see a show with Ann-Margret. In Las Vegas she receives $1,000,000 for 16 weeks, but this one however, was free. At her Uncle Calle's house, in Valsjobyn in northern Sweden, the 33 year-old danced and clowned around for the amateur photographers of the village.

It was Ann-Margret's second visit to the village since she left with Mother Anna. Then she was 6 years old.

"There's too much time between visits", she confesses."It won't be another eleven years till I'm backa again. Maybe I'll be back next year".

The main character this time around, was Roger Smith, Ann-Margret's husband and producer. In a white tropical suit and with a gold chain around his neck, he said hello to foresters in the neighbouring village.

"Charming" he said about Valsjobyn, "but I had expected it to be a bit bigger".

Mother Anna had cooked him Smorgasbord, with smoked fish, meatballs and snaps. He got to see the lake where Ann-Margret learned to swim and the path where she fell off her bicycle and first scrubbed her knees.

The visit was for 2 days. Then it was off for filming in London, vacation on the isle of Capri, filming in Italy, and then back to Las Vegas.

"But my mind is in Valsjobyn all the time", Ann-Margret says.
