The part as Florence Nightingale is not for Ann-Margret

Will Ann-Margret make a come-back on the white screen?

The Swedish superstar has had a very tempting offer.
But Ann-Margret, who has made 36 films, hesitates. She hasn't filmed much in the 80s, in spite of several Oscar-nominations.
"I don't want to do a a film based on an old story. I want to make something completely different".
'The Virgins of Hiroshima' is about an American Hhouswife who takes care of three young japanese women after the bombing of Hiroshima in August 1945. The starring part is set for 49-year old Ann-Margret, but question is, if this is what she calls "different". In her personal life, she also has the part of a Florence Nightinggale.
Her husband Roger Smith, has an incurable muscle desease, and Ann-Margret has had to say no to several engagements to be by his side.
"At times, he is in such pain that he can't get out of bed", she says, and she's willing to do anything she can to see him get well.
They have never had any children of their own, a great disappointment for Ann-Margret, and it has taken her years to accept.
In spite of this, their marriage is very happy, and not at all like your typical Hollywood marriage.
At this moment, she's touring with a new song- and dance-show, which has had critics raving.
Otherwise, she lives a pretty quiet life with her husband in Beverly Hills.
